CONSTRUCTION HALTED: NYC Issues Stop-Work Order At Lower Manhattan Office-To-Residential Conversion After Structural Cracks Found

New York City issued a stop-work order at 222 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, where developers are converting the office building into a 32-story residential tower with nearly 800 apartments, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Inspectors found cracks in two concrete beams on the newly added top floor, prompting the city to halt construction and carry out additional safety inspections. The move comes amid heightened scrutiny of major office-to-residential projects following the structural buckling of the former Pfizer building.
