Iran’s Foreign Ministry says a joint statement with Oman on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is in its final drafting stage after two months of negotiations. Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the proposed route’s coordinates have been agreed upon, but warned that an Iran-Oman understanding alone cannot guarantee safe passage while the U.S. naval blockade and continued U.S. and Israeli threats remain unresolved.
Baghaei also denied reports that Iran’s foreign minister or parliament speaker plans to visit Pakistan or Qatar later this week, while noting that Tehran remains in contact with both countries as they work to reduce tensions.
