CDC CONFIRMED: Senate Approves Dr. Erica Schwartz as Agency’s Permanent Director


The Senate confirmed Dr. Erica Schwartz as director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, giving the agency its first permanent leader in nearly a year. Schwartz previously served as deputy surgeon general during President Trump’s first term and has led the CDC in an acting capacity since August 2025. She was confirmed by a 53–47 vote.
