Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly threatened to resign to force a meeting with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Arab diplomats and an IRGC adviser.
Pezeshkian wanted to warn Khamenei that Iran’s economic situation had become so dire that reaching a diplomatic understanding was urgent. Khamenei ultimately agreed to meet him, and Pezeshkian later said the meeting lasted about two and a half hours.
