Israel and Lebanon have agreed on Britain, Italy, Switzerland and Indonesia as possible participants in an international mechanism that could deploy foreign troops to Lebanon to verify Hezbollah’s disarmament, Reuters reports. The proposal emerged from U.S.-mediated talks in Rome last week. The countries could help shape the mechanism, provide personnel or troops for inspections, including checks of southern Lebanese villages to ensure they are free of weapons. Israel wants inspections to include private homes, while the Lebanese army has resisted such searches without warrants.
