The Washington Post reports that some U.S. intelligence officials had “low confidence” in Israel’s warning of an Iranian assassination threat against President Trump in Turkey, with one official saying the Secret Service could not independently verify it.
The skepticism comes despite separate reporting that Iran knew President Trump’s exact location in Ankara, including his hotel floor, and that U.S. intelligence had information about a man near the NATO summit with a shoulder-fired missile. The threat prompted the Secret Service to secretly fly President Trump out on an alternate military aircraft.
