ABC and parent company Disney sued the FCC on Tuesday, alleging that the agency’s early review of eight ABC broadcast licenses violates the First Amendment and is part of a “retaliatory campaign” over programming disliked by the Trump administration.
The lawsuit comes after months of clashes with FCC Chairman Brendan Carr involving Jimmy Kimmel, “The View” and Disney’s diversity policies. ABC is asking a federal judge to halt the license reviews, which the FCC formally ordered in April.
