Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr said the Fed can afford to remain patient if incoming economic data show inflation moving back toward its 2% target, but warned that policymakers should be ready to raise interest rates if price pressures fail to ease.
“If inflation appears not to be moderating sufficiently, then I think we should act decisively to raise rates,” Barr said Tuesday ahead of the Fed’s September meeting.
