A U.S. Department of Energy employee was arrested for allegedly attempting to provide material support to Yemen’s Houthis (Ansarallah), the Justice Department announced. Ashton Hamad Ellaboudy, 51, allegedly sought to improve the terrorist group’s communications capabilities and purchased components for homemade explosives and drones.
Prosecutors say Ellaboudy traveled to Houthi-controlled Yemen in September 2025 and later provided communications guidance and helped acquire equipment for what he believed was a Houthi operative.
