A handful of Israel’s spiritual leaders are in Europe now to take part in a massive fundraiser for the families supported by tzedaka organization Kupat Ha’Ir.
The rabbanim involved have left behind yeshivos and communities who rely on them, in order to pray for a list of the donors at the grave of the Chofetz Chaim in Radin. This sacrifice illustrates the importance, and urgency, of the event.
They will also visit various other holy sites.
Many have taken part in the limited opportunity to add their name to the list. The cause is an undeniably important one: Many widows, orphans, and talmidei chachamim live in shocking states of poverty in Israel. They rely on Kupat Ha’Ir for help, especially in the days approaching Rosh Hashana.
The appeal of the fundraiser is undeniable as well: Having one’s name prayed for at the grave of the Chofetz Chaim, one of the greatest spiritual leaders in our history, by one of the talmidei chachamim of today’s generation, is an immeasurable opportunity.
The prayer gathering will take place on Tuesday. Only hours remain until names will no longer be accepted.
Names will only be accepted for the next two days, as the prayers will be held on Tuesday, the Chofetz Chaim’s yartzeit. In less than 24 hours, their prayers will storm the heavens. Those who are wise will not miss this opportunity.
