A few months ago, 11-year-old Dovid Pereg was a regular little boy. Now, he is a boy on a mission. A mission to save his family.
Dovid’s father, Rabbi Pereg, is a respected rosh chabura in the Mir Yeshiva. His mother, Rebbetzin Sara Pereg was known for her warmth and chesed. That all came crashing down with a single diagnosis just two months ago: cancer. Her condition worsened rapidly, and she was almost immediately admitted to the hospital. Two weeks ago, she passed away.
The Pereg family is reportedly left in a chaotic aftermath of grief and debt. With four young children at home, it is unclear how they will recover and find security. An emergency campaign, titled “For the Sake of the Children of Rebbetzin Pereg zt”l”, has been started on their behalf.
A video on the page shows 11 year old Dovid, bravely facing the camera to tell his story. “Hello my name is Dovid and I’m 11 and a half years old. My mom passed away 2 weeks ago after she was sick for 2 months, suffering a lot in the hospital,” he says, clearly nervous. “I’m asking you if you can please help me and my family so we can get through this difficult time.”
It is a painful clip to watch.
Those moved by the tragedy of this story pray that little Dovid will succeed in his mission: Helping his family through this painful and surreal time.
