Okay, let’s face it– you’re probably thinking about food anyway. Here’s a quick, healthy snack I created last night.

Heat a pan on medium with equal parts canola oil, maple syrup (ideally the real stuff, not maple-flavored table syrup), and water. Let it heat for a few minutes until it starts to bubble. Lower the heat to medium-low and add a handful of bran flakes, dried fruit (I used dried strawberries for color), and coarsely chopped nuts (I used walnuts). Stir to coat. Leave it alone for a while to let the liquid reduce and harden, but keep an eye on it and stir it every so of ten to make sure it doesn’t burn. When it’s done, you can either chill it and eat later, or eat immediately while it’s hot (guess which option my husband and I chose!)

Fun, quick, different. Think about adding it to your break fast menu 🙂
