I am hard of hearing and cannot make out, either on CD or on a YouTube video, the words to MBD’s “Lichtiger Shabbos”. My cousin in Flatbush painstakingly dictated to me, by phone last week, the words to the first verse plus chorus. My intent is to have the entire song not only translated (that’s the quick part; first verse and chorus already done) as a singable version (matching the rhyme scheme and rhythm, thank you) but with both Yiddish and English typeset on the same sheet, in time to take copies with me when I visit this cousin and her family iy”H for the last days of Sukkos.
Please help me out with the second and subsequent verses. Many thanks in advance. I don’t care whether the words are in the Yiddish or the Latin alphabet.

If I understand this correctly, you translated the song from the dictated Yiddish, yes? Why not have your cousin type up the lyrics and e-mail them to you, or post them on this thread?
(If they don’t have a computer/Internet, surely they know someone who does, or have a public library they can use?)
By the way, if you can translate a song and “matc[h] the rhyme scheme and rhythm” in the new language, hats off to you.

Still hilarious (especially for kids) until you grow out/get sick of it.

P.S. It took careful reading of your post to realize that you just wanted the Yiddish lyrics transcribed, and not turned into an English song matching… etc., with both sets of lyrics on the page, nuch der tzi. That may be why you didn’t get a response sooner.
