   My wife and I are newly wed. We're both working professionals and baalei-tshuva. Chassideshe would describe best our minhagim.

   Due to my work location (Princeton, NJ) and our level of observance Lakewood seems to be good fit for us. We're looking for a shul/community that davens nusach SEFARD, ideally in neighborhood with working people who will not be negatively stereotypical because we are not FFB and I'm not wearing white shirts & hat on daily basis.

   It's especially important for us to find shul that has proper davening - slow with kavana and without interference.

   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

   I don't know where you'll such a neighborhood in Lakewood. Have you considured Highland Park?

   I think you should consider Highland Park. It is much closer to Princeton. Also, I think that you would fit in better in Highland Park.
   The Agudah davens in nusach sfard. Also, there is a sheitbel. There is a wide variety of people ranging from very modern to kollel families. There are also a lot of baalei tshuva. Many are professional but yeshivish. In many families, both spouses are professional. Many of the men were colored shirts. Some wear black and white.

   Lakewood has a lot of young couples (early twenties); however, it sounds like you may not fit in with them. They are all going to be doing similar things (ie kollel and wife working to some extent). While people debate how open minded lakewood is, in general, you will not be doing the same things and people may look down on your backgrounds. You also may have a problem getting your future children into schools, as they are extremely selective in Lakewood.

   with all due respect, you are steriotyping. lakewood is huge, with many different types of people, and a big variaty of neighborhoods. most of my WORKING family lives there and are very happy there. can you believe it?

   Chazal teach: "HaBa Letaher Masiin Oto". Our goal isn't to maintain current level of observance but to advance. Thus Lakewood seemed to be a good place.

   We heard that children of baalei tshuva treated as second class citizens - what can I say - it's quite unfortunate.

   While H/P is closer to Princeton, prices for decent houses are very high. Plus the community seems to be relatively small. We want to live in place that has concentration of frum people - it's enough for me to spend most of my day with goym - I want to come home to jewish environment.

   I heard that many professional folks live in Chestnut area but don't know what it is. Any insight?

   I don't know if houses are available in this area - but Khal Ateres Yeshaya (Rav Simcha Bunim Cohen's shul)on County Line Road is mostly working people, and from what I understand it is people very focused on growing with shiurim from both the Rav and Rebbetzin.

   I don't know what nussach they daven.
