Okay, the ball is now rolling...
Posted 3 years ago # -
'cause it's takeh not pashut
Posted 3 years ago # -
Shindy is my name.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because I simply Know It All...
Posted 3 years ago # -
I am what I say I am.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because I moderate YW! (At least I try!)
Posted 3 years ago # -
This is all very enlightening.

I work for Honeywell. In Hebrew that would really be Ein Dvash, but that could be confusing as Ein can be translated to "lacking" or "eye" as well. I could use Be'er but apostrophes are generally not accepted in user names. Mayan translates to spring which is close enough.

b/c that's what I am

Oomis comes from my married son's nickname for me from the time that he met his future Kallah. He called her by an affectionate nickname, and added part of that nickname to each of our names. Oomis is an altered form of Ema.

You can do a Google search on my name to find out why. :)
The Wolf
Posted 3 years ago # -
My initials and location.
Shindy - is that a nicknam for Shaindel? A totally different name? I've never met anyone called Shindy before.
Posted 3 years ago # -
I don't have internet at home.
So I am only "here" when I am work.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because 646 is the gematriah of my name!
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because Yiddishkeit should be about how much I enjoy Shabbos and doing mitzvos and not about how much I can deny and make it harder on myself and others

YW Moderator
Moderator
Because I moderate YW! (At least I try!)
-----------------------------------------wait a minute, you stole my line :o) LoL
Posted 3 years ago # -
Cut it out, both of you. :)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Not sure :-\
(that sounds very intelligent, no?)Shindy,
Just curious, is that with a "long i" or short?Posted 3 years ago # -
Because, despite what some people here have said, I believe that there is NO inherent contradiction in being an observant Jewish feminist. And because my birthday is February 2nd (02/02).
Posted 3 years ago # -
Cause thats what my Chusheve husband calls me...(I wish!)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because im 20 and when i make judgemens i try to be yashrus and since this most threads are about judging certain topics well its makes sense to be yashrus!
Posted 3 years ago # -
WOW, yo moderator im in yeshiva my grammer aint so gud you gotta correct me. lol Its making me look bad.:)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Intelligent-
It's with a long I. Why do you spell your name intelligent INTELLEGENT? (with an E)Posted 3 years ago # -
Because I liked the sound of it, primarily because it goes with "of light". Random...
Posted 3 years ago # -
at the end of the day, differences and titles aside, are we not all a chasid of Hashem?
Posted 3 years ago # -
I call myself Chacham because that is what [i aspire to be](I am now).
ps i used to be called a baal gaaveh to answer that up i caleed myself then the biggest anavPosted 3 years ago # -
Because my middle name is Esther.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because it's an impossibility, and yet somehow using it tick people off.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because I just decided I have S`michah 15 minutes ago
(em) not for halachah L`maaseh (/em)
Posted 3 years ago # -
I chose my name because I feel our main focus here on YW should be the praise of the Jews. We are a great nation dedicated to Hashem.
Besides, it's hard to argue with someone with such a complimentary name. :)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Because that is what I am...
Posted 3 years ago # -
sometimes i talk to people who just dont get it... Before I joined, I read a few posts and had to comment- people were just not using seichel!
Posted 3 years ago # -
I guesse because its neutral! I dont claim to 'know it all' nor do I think I should be the one to decide that some posters should 'havemoreseichel'etc,,,,
I want to remain modest, and I'm proud of that! lol!

thanks to "Will Hill" for starting probably the nicest thread in the cofferoom!
I once got a brocha from an Odom Godol to learn Kitzur Shulchan Oruch, so I started a website http://www.kitzur.net (surprise, surprise :) to promote learning this sefer.

My name says what I am. Nobody. Just someone who minds his own business and gets on with life, happy to be a nobody that no-one else would give a second look at.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Joseph hasnt posted here yet!!
I was curious about his name because if he is as "frum" as he says he would go by Yosef, not Joseph.
Posted 3 years ago # -
SJSinNYC, rabbiofberlin advised me it is correctly spelled as Joseph (even though it is pronounced Yoseph.)
Posted 3 years ago # -
A nickname some of my friends gave me
Posted 3 years ago # -
i had no idea what to make my screen name :)
Posted 3 years ago # -
I use my personal name (that I also use as my d/b/a in my brokerage business.)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Joseph - since when do you agree with ROB? (just teasing you!)
Posted 3 years ago # -
Some people are very clever,
but with me it is not the same.
So, I stuck with what I was given
and thus, mdlevine, became my screen name.If I was clever and had sat and pondered,
perhaps I would have chosen something not so bland.
Like YW-Moderator,
now wouldn’t that be grand!Posted 3 years ago # -
Oh please SJSinNYC. This thread was so neutral let it not become a war zone between Joseph & the Rabbi. By the way do you live in Berlin ROB?
Posted 3 years ago # -
noitall, it was just a joke :-)
Posted 3 years ago # -
I am what I am - yes there really are Jews outside of NY...
I know I know its a difficult concept to grasp...Posted 3 years ago # -
Yes, we know there is life outside of NY, but since space travel is not yet widely available we have never seen such a person.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Remember that the axis of the world runs through prospect park....and the world revolves around it!
oh, and there are no "humans" outside of Nyers... no one speaks english as well as they do!Posted 3 years ago # -
Mine ought to be obvious. Cantorial music is my passion. Lawyering is what I do for a living.
