Sephardic Rabbanim

I was wondering that why most of the Sephardic Rabbanim are going according the pshat and the dor hakodem according the Sod. Did this change happen because of the influence of Maran Ovadia Z”L towards all the Sephardim? In my opinion its sad that people forgot their own masoret for example Persian jews, Iraqi Jews, Moroccon jews because most of the Sephardim went according the teachings of The Yosef Hayyim from Baghdad and The Ari z”l in the dor hakodem and now most of the people go according the pshat (Shulchan Aruch).
