"trophy wives being handed out like candy"
disgustingI know! Right?
Posted 10 months ago # -
PBA - you left out a comma
Posted 10 months ago # -
Syag: I can't figure out what you mean. I tried putting a comma in every place.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Too bad, then I guess you aren't as funny as I thought you were.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Put a comma after 'out'. I assumed you did it on purpose.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Ah. Meaning that the trophy wives are being handed candy? (Or, being handed, like, candy?)
Posted 10 months ago # -
'trophy wives being handed out, like Candy' (the one I promised you couldn't have). So sorry, I really thought you did it on purpose . . .it would've been so brilliant.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Oh! That's really good. I'm mad I didn't think of that.
Posted 10 months ago # -
Too much unfiltered surfing dulls the brain.
Posted 10 months ago # -
getzel - I think you forgot a vuv :)
Posted 10 months ago # -
Popa, did you say that they're handing out trophies and candy to wives at the siyum hashas? That sounds like a great idea, after all, it was their mesiras nefesh that helped their husbands finish shas.

Won't be able to attend the Siyum? Have an extra ticket that you don't need? We have hundreds of requests for $18, $36, $54, $72 tickets for both men and ladies. http://www.siyumshadchan.com

Wow! The event is sold out and there are still "hundreds of requests". maybe they should rent out the stadium next door.
I thought they should have done that from the start, they could have rented out a whole nother stadium and put women there. This way they could have had more participants and saved a lot of money on the mechitzah.

We have hundreds of requests for...
Q: When people write things like this, do you take them literally? Do you think they are saying the whole truth or exaggerating a little to get your attention??
SiDi™
Posted 9 months ago # -
I don't take it literally but I assume that "hundreds of requests" means "tens of requests" and if there are tens of people who made requests on that site than there are probably tens of other people who would like to go but do not know of the site or didn't bother submitting a request.
Mr/Mrs Shadchan, can you please clarify for us whether you were being literal when you said "hundreds"?

Rabosai, there is a real shidduch crisis out there! we have had over 500 requests from different people for tickets, and most people aren't just looking for 1 ticket, most want a few tickets. We even have a few groups looking for 15-20 tickets!
Posted 9 months ago # -
The question isn't how many people still need tickets. The question is how many people have tickets they want to sell.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Well anyway, went to the Shadchan website, none of the links work. So Shadchan, if you want to sell my husband's $100 ticket for me (he can't make it), you can respond to me here with how I contact you, who you are etc. Also have a RT bus ticket. I'll check back here later.

"they could have rented out a whole nother stadium and put women there."
Why bother? I was in Arthur Ashe for the Asifa with the other losers and should have stayed home and had it streamed in.
So here is another example of treating our women like second class citizens. You would have women who purchased tickets months ago kicked out in order to make room for the procrastinators who just woke up.
And who again is underwriting the cost of renting another stadium for several hundred or even thousand people who still need seats?

A Woman outside bklyn: Did you click "Click Here"?
Posted 9 months ago # -
The only "click here" button I saw was the one for RSA raffles. Nothing for the siyum tickets. I'm not looking to make a killing on them, just want to unload a ticket that will otherwise go unused. So Shadchan, contact me here so we can talk tachlis.

A Woman Outside Brooklyn:
Sorry that you are having problems with our site. It is a problem that some people are having and we don't have time to fix it because we are so busy trying to make shidduchim before Wednesday/Thursday! (apparently not everyone is having the problem because ticket requests keep pouring in)
I emailed you the form to fill out

That wouldn't be treating them like 2nd class citizens. Aderaba, this would be better for them since they can be more separated. Kol kvoda bas melech pnima. They should want it to be that way. Either way, this would be an official venue which would allow for more women to attend (and more men).
And who again is underwriting the cost of renting another stadium for several hundred or even thousand people who still need seats?
First of all, the would save money by not having to construct the mechitza. 2nd, they charge per seat.
Posted 9 months ago # -
For the record, I wasn't proposing to "kick them out to make room for procrastinators". I was saying that l'chatchila it should have been done that way.
Posted 9 months ago # -
"That wouldn't be treating them like 2nd class citizens. Aderaba, this would be better for them since they can be more separated."
Women, do you agree; or do you feel that putting you in a differant stadium which is away from the action is like compelling you to ride in the back of the bus?
And why a whole nother stadium next door to MetLife stadium? We can rent a hall for you in Williamsburg which would be far better for you since you would be even more seperated. There is just no shiur to seperation; the further away, the better for you.Posted 9 months ago # -
Riding in a separate section of the bus is tznius and preferred by every Yirei Shamayim woman.
Posted 9 months ago # -
So you ride in the back of the bus.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Thank you for your understanding and advice. Per my rebbetzin, I of course always do.

And why did were the suites at Aghudah Siyum Hashas (sold for many $thousands each) permitted to have male and female participants; not related family members in most cases? These suites generally had catering by super glatt hashgachos. If Agudah talks the talk; it should also walk the walk.
Having said that, the event was the most thrilling experience for me; as if everyone there was your best friend and sharing a mutual simcha. We need to have stadium achdus generating events at least every other year; and we need to think of a "simchasdik" draw which would attract all streams of frum yidden.

I agree. B"H this year we had two stadium events 3 months apart. The next asifa should be about the tznius crisis, just as the last was about the internet crisis. And Yankee Stadium is 50% larger than Citi Field, so they won't have to rent out Arthus Ashe as a second venue.
Posted 9 months ago # -
The problem is hardly anyone would go, and those that would probably don't need it.... The problem is getting the ones who need it the most to attend....
Posted 9 months ago # -
a mamin - We got to try. It worked years ago with slits in the skirts. I still remember Dayan Dunner Shlita famous and powerful Drasha.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Maybe like the last asifa was for men only, the tznius asifa should be for women only? Then, again, truthfully the men are equally culpable as the wives and daughters they allow to go out pritzusdik.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Crises related asifa's are downers; Klall Yisroel needs simcha gatherings.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Sellout crowds with needing a second stadium for the overflow is hardly a downer.
Posted 9 months ago # -
Believe me, Ashe was a downer; I was there.
