Just $49 a tie! Kollels are apparently not what they were when I was a kid.

it is not clear to me that Versace ties , which feature a face of Medusa, (which also includes a full face of the sun sun)may be worn. Certainly I’m not paskening, but it may be a haklachic issue issue worth inquiring about.

Why wear a tie at all? Save your tie money and buy seforim instead, or buy your wife a dress. Moshe Rabbeinu didn’t wear a tie, you know.

Of course Moshe Rabbeinu didn’t wear a tie. He was Chassidish.

Moshe Rabbeinu wasn’t on a kollel budget. For that matter Moshe Rabbeinu wasn’t in kollel either.

He was what we would call Sephardi.

Actually, Moshe Rabeinu was a Sefardi. Had he been Ashkenazi, his name would have been Rabinowitz.

Patur Aval Assur – of course Moshe Rabeinu was in full-time learning. He just had a very wealthy Father supporting him.

    ????? ??? ?? ??? ?? ???? ?? ????

    ??? ??? ??? ???? ?? ??? ?? ???

I have the same wealthy Father that Moshe had, yet I am not in Kollel. (By the way I assume you used “full-time learning interchangeably with “kollel” but they are not necessarily the same thing.)

The problem with being supported by a wealthy father is that it seems like fun and games but then he wants to dictate everything you do; all your small decisions like where you should live and what school your kids should go to, and whether you should go to Eretz Yisroel.

VM is right. The only good wealthy father is a edited wealthy father.

To paraphrase the old joke: How do you know Moshe Rabbeinu wore a tie? Because it says “vayispalel moshe,” and do you seriously think Moshe would daven without a tie?

And it also says ???????? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????????? and the Gemara (Berachos 6b) says ???? ????? ??? ???? which may explain the continuation of the pasuk – ????????? ???????????? ?????????????? ??????????? ????????????? ???????????????? ??????????? – the Pelishti thought Dovid was Chayev Misa for praying to him.

And the Gemara in Sotah 39a says ??? ????? ??? ????? which according to the transitive axiom would mean that ???? = ?????. Maybe this is a limud zechus for people who don’t daven.

Medusa is not an avoda zarah – she is a mythological monster. No one ever worshipped her (AFAIK).

As for the sun, do designs on cloth count for avoda zara? Are all images of things which are or were avoda zara still a problem?
