The Shuva Yisrael Beis Din on Wednesday, 8 Shevat, released a psak calling on followers to observe a fast day and a taanis dibur on Thursday for the success of a “dangerous surgery” that Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto will undergo on erev Shabbos.

The rabbonim of the beis din call on followers of the rav to take part in the fasting and taanis dibur on behalf of Rabbi Pinto. They add the operation was decided upon suddenly. It will take place early Friday morning in NYC’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. At that time, Friday afternoon in Eretz Yisrael, talmidim will be conducting tefilos on the rav’s behalf.

Av Beis Din HaRav Shmuel Ochana Shlita told his kehilla that the rav’s ongoing acts of chessed and his continuous concern for the well-being of others will be his best defense in Shomayim for his total recovery.

His name for Tehillim is Yoshiyahu Yosef ben Zari bsoch kol cholei am yisrael.
