MK Yehuda Glick: The Kosel’s Kedusha Is That Of A Shul

glickIn an address in the Knesset, Har Habayis activist MK Yehuda Glick explained for years children have been educated to understand the Kosel is the holiest site to the Jewish People when in fact this is not true – but Har Habayis is the holiest site.

Speaking to Kol Chai host Mordechai Lavi on Thursday morning 25 Iyar, Glick sites the Medrash says the Kosel which we visit today was without a doubt not a wall of the Beis HaMikdash but it is the site that millions have davened for years, and it has the kedusha of a shul and this is not to be mocked.

However, people have become too accustomed to the Kosel and as a result, Har Habayis has been forgotten.

Kol Chai

The Kosel is the only place we can use to daven today according to the majority of poskim and Gedolei Yisrael. We cannot visit Har Habayis, not because it is not holy but because it is too holy. Perhaps your words and those of Naftali Bennett diminish the status of the Kosel

Glick

I abide by halacha. Look at the Mishna in Keilim, that one cannot enter a holy site without toiveling in a mikve. We cannot call any place we wish holy – there are guidelines. I think there should be a model of the Beis HaMikdash at the Kosel to remind us and to understand the Kosel is not inherently holy as too many believe erroneously.

  1. Worse than the Chilonim!

How dare he to oppose the Psak of Gedolei Yisrael that
“We cannot visit Har Habayis … because it is too holy”!

Sincere appreciation to YWN for regularly reminding us of this fact.

  2. Unfortunately, people speak without knowing what is true. The Talmid of the Rashbo quotes a chazal as saying: At the Churban the Shechina left Har Habayis and settled on the Kosel Maarovi, There is NO holier spot than the Kosel!!

Additionally Rav Ovadaiah Yosef (Who paskened as has been the Psak for generations) That one is forbidden to step on Har Havayis. As part of his Psak he says that if one maps out Har Habayis according to every opinion in the Rishonim there is NO PLACE where one may go with the blessings of every Rishon. As such he forbids Jews from going ANYPLACE on Har Habayis.
FINALLY he said he went to a Mikva. A Mikva does not suffice for a man, who may be Tomay with ZIVA. A “Live” Spring fed Mikva is the only Mikva that would be sufficient. His words are a good example of a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!!
It is too bad that Kol Chai did not point any of this out to him. Let him say he argues with the Psak of every Major posek for centuries. And then he can be asked how he pretends to be a charedi????
