It is well-known just how important the matter of taharas mishpacha is to HaGaon HaRav Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita – so much so that on a recent trip abroad, Maran asked HaGaon HaRav Moshe Yehuda Schneider to check each place he visits to determine if there is a working mikve tahara.

Officials of the National Center for Family Purity recently visited with Maran, seeking assistance in building a mikve in Afula in an area where many traditional families are living, but without a working mikve.

Rav Shteinman was quick to respond with his own donation of NIS 600 and asked that 2,500 others join with him and match the sum. Rav Shteinman signed a special letter with his message to the tzibur asking them to join and match his donation.

  1. There are at least four kosher working mikvaos in Afula. Whilst it will be nice to have another new one for the growing Yeshivish community, might the funds not be better collected and spent in a small yishuv where there is no mikveh and where the nearest one is more than a short distance away?
