In reference to YWN post, IDF Fails to meet Chareidi Induction Quota.
I was shocked to see how this piece of news was written so matter of fact.
Let’s set the record straight, even if in regarding how to deal with the draft, there are differences of opinion.
But it was quite clear and simple to all of previous and present Gedolim: That Chareidim in the army is a MAJOR PROBLEM! And by the way, in my recent talk with a hesder Rosh Yeshiva, he did admit to me that out of 100 talmidim that join the army each year there are quite a few that drop religion completely. Is that not a major problem.
A very large majority (80%+) of those in the so-called Nachal Chareidi (Netzach Yehuda) are non-Chareidim/Daati Leumi. The IDF isn’t attracting many Chareidim to enlist or be drafted.
