So much is written and said about being dan l’kaf zchus, that sometimes it starts to feel like the only two options are that he is eating treif, or has an ulcer.
But there are other choices also. For example, I once saw someone chowing down a hamburger at McDonalds, and found out afterwards that actually he was eating it l’sheim avoda zara.
Another time I was working for this guy and then he said he had nothing to pay with (even though he had fields and animals and servants etc. I thought he was just being a jerk, but founf out that actually all the stuff was stolen.
Often, things can be much worse than they seem, and with a little bit of creativity and an open mind, you can think of many ways.

I saw a little girl operating an illegal lemonade stand. I bet she was davka doing it because it’s not tznius for a girl to sell lemonade to men. Plus the lemonade was probably poisoned.

Like if someone you know is a rasha and tries to get yidden to do aveiros, and one day he does something nice for you, you should assume he has at the very least mixed intentions.
