Can someone please explain why frum stores in particular are still stocking shelves with romaine lettuce when there was a multi country and nation ban on romaine lettuce?
People are in the hospitals clinging to life and also a few deaths which were possibly linked to E coli infested romaine lettuce.
I have checked both websites. They are still investigating if lettuce was the cause. Just because another country bans it doesn’t mean it will be banned here in the USA. Therefore they don’t have to pull it from the shelves. However, I am not buying it at the moment.
Ban or recall / warning?
As others have said repeatedly, there is NO ban or limit on romaine or any other food. They have said it could be among the causes but it will take more time to determine if all of those taken ill have ingested romaine in roughly the same time period. In the interim , wash your lettuce and enjoy.
Canada has a warning. USA still hasn’t issued anything.
As per dr shanik,a prominent pediatrician from lakewood is advising patients not to consume romaine or iceberg lettuce untill further notice. He does not differentiate between kosher or not kosher brands.
