I am a BT and am approaching the dating scene soon iyh. my parents will not be involved whatsoever and I wanted to know everyones opinions on the protocol regarding how this will work for dating. i am to call the boys references myself correct? what are good topics to talk about on a first date? Also on my resume should I include a short description of what I am looking for? (because I was told by someone not to)

Is there someone you trust who can call the references for you? I think that’s a better idea.

Have you contacted the Oorah Rebbetzins program?

    Hatzlacha.

Do you have someone who you trust who could do it for you? A religious aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor? Maybe a teacher or mechaneches you connected to? You definitely should not be doing it yourself. And I agree with @DaasYochid the oorah rebbetzins program is great.

Thank you so much for answering. I have never heard of that program and I just checked it out. Seems like an amazing program thanks for sharing! I wanted to know how it worked if a person is interested in a guy and wish to see if it would be a good match, they approach the Rebbetzin of the shul this boy learns at? What does a person say in that situation?

I do not really understand how the whole system works…

Most people don’t write on the resume what they’re looking for; whoever redds the shidduch should be able to inform the other side.
