Serious question… How do you know how much food to feed kids?
Especially when they’re little and eating regular food, how do you know how much to feed them?
I’ve taken care of and fed kids, but they usually eat as much as they eat… and I’m not there for too long.
Growing up, we were expected to finish our plates. In retrospect, maybe there was a better way to learn how much food I need to eat, and it would have been beneficial to learn that I can stop eating intrinsically. Plus, dessert was the only reason why I ate dinner, quite often.
How do you know what’s enough? And when to stop?
Thank you 🙂

You can encourage a kid to eat more, promising dessert helps, but in the end you can’t force-feed a kid, and it’s unwise to turn meal-times into battles so that eating becomes a power struggle.
