The other day I stopped by Lowe’s and picked up a new toilet flapper clearly marked “Universal Fit”.
But when I got home, lo and behold the flapper did not fit my toilet.
The only logical explanation for this is that I am in my own universe.

An even more logical explanation is that the packaging is wrong or that you have a nonstandard toilet.

Leaving aside the issue of whether that is true or not, what does this have to do with the OP? Or are you contending that toilets in Jewish homes are different than toilets in non-Jewish homes?

The Chasam Sofer (Teshuvos YD 175) writes that this Gemara is relevant in practice. He rules that we cannot assume that a medical treatment that was tested successfully on a Nochri will also be successful on a Jew. Rav Elyashev zt’l pointed out that the Chasam Sofer writes that the physical characteristics of a Yid are different than a Goy, and that what applies to one may not apply to the other. Therefore, said Rav Elyashev, how much more so regarding the mind/soul?
Since the OP raised the issue of an advertised “Universal Fit”, I was simply pointing out that what is a “Universal Fit” for Nochrim are not necessarily so for Yidden.
Hence its non-fitting experience.
