A new camera was just put up at Ave I on Ocean Parkway and it is to catch speeders, southbound across from the Lubavitch Yeshiva. Besides for the police who sometimes wait near Ave K like Thursday this week using laser.

Are you sure the camera is used for speeders? I thought it’s to catch red light runners?

So what you are posting this so people will know not to break the law in that area? where is it legal to go over the speed limit?

    Goq,

If the purpose of the light is to prevent speeding, then the OP was helping the cause. Why are you bothered?

If that is not the purpose of the camera, they what reason is there for the city, or whoever is operating it, to put one there? Is it another tax? Then again the OP is presenting a legal way to avoid being subject to that tax.

I fail to understand why you are bothered.

The purpose is to save someone aggravation from making a mistake and also to give people a reason to follow the law and drive slower. No one says speed elsewhere, save yourself money and maybe even sholom bayis.

You are Mekayem “speeding” on Ocean Parkway by merely going 40MPH which is common and a comfortable speed with full control.

It is against the law to speed we should be following the laws of the land ALL the time, not just when there is a greater chance to be caught!

BTW the ramps off the Prospect Expwy have a speed limit of 5 mph… I know someone who got a speeding ticket for going on the ramps at 10 mph.

HaLeiVi, control is not the only reason for speed limits. Higher speed collisions have a higher fatality rate R”l than lower speed collisions.

Good point, DY. Ocean Parkway is an accident prone place. Perhaps it’s because of the high curn and narrow lanes.

Thank you for pointing that out, Chaimy.
