Their father asks them Please bring me a cup of water.

    What will be our reward?

A shiny quarter for each of you.

What is required of us to get the quarter?

I ask only that the water be fresh, and clean.

The first son finishes reading his comic book, finds a paper cup on the floor, fills it halfway with warm water, hands it over and says Here ya go Pops!

The second son goes straight to the kitchen, with a smile on his face, finds a large crystal glass in the cabinet, washes it until it sparkles, finds some cold spring water in the fridge, puts some ice in the glass and fills it up with the water. He puts it on a silver platter (no, I dont know any real child who would do this either, its a mashul). He hands it to his father and says Tatti thank you so much for everything you do for me. I love you.

Now, they both get their quarter. But which son do you think also caused nachas and a swelling of love for him. Which one will see The increased ratzon of his father.. Which one do you think will get an extra special hug when the day is over.

Which son do you at least WANT to try and be like? Even if you dont really feel love and gratitude to The Abishter. Even if you feel your acts are hypocritical. Who wants to at least try. Who wants to learn to serve The Ribono Shel Olam with the immense Simcha of Love and Gratitude.

Who wants to rejoice for eternity that he tried.

why does it matter that son #1 was reading comic book is that a commentary on the supposed character flaws of him?

You should be son #3 seeing that your totty is home after a hard days working/learning and get him a drink without asking.

There are 2 people who daven. One takes his time and slowly pronounces each word and takes 1.5 hours for Shachris and the other rushes through and takes 30 mins for Shachris. Whose Tefillah does hashem love more?

What if I told you the person who takes 1.5 hours was a bocher in Yeshiva and had plenty of time to take his time and the person who rushed though the davening got up at 5am for Daf Yomi, Help get his 7 kids up and ready for school. Rushed through the davening and then had to go off to work to be there at a certain time
