    VEry funny.

But it wasn't at the time.

I was feeding the baby this morning and yet meantime having this premonition that the 3 year old was "up to something".

So I get up and check. She has filled every hole in a plastic "homemade ices" tupperware thing with plain yogurt. She has been dishing it out and now its all over her, the table, the floor and all my Good yogurt was gone! EXPENSIVE

So at breakfast, I decided to lower my self dignity by sitting down to actually eat that up in order not to waste all that good acidophilus. They noticed me trying to scoop it out and laughed, singing in a mocking sing song tune "Mommy's eating up the yogurt azoy..."

I felt embarassed but ...laughed also.

Then we're rushing to get out the door and my 3 year old is mocking me by singing over and over in the sing song way "mommy is a chick-a-pacha" If you never heard of a CHICK-A-PACHA it is Yiddish for turtle.

Not that I don't like turtles. I just think kids shouldnt be name calling at their mother. Then I explained nicely its not derech ertze. so in the same sing song tune she sings to mock me :

    "mommy is nisht a chick-a-pacha"

So i found myself mindlessly singing in that mocking sing song tune "Oh yes I am". Then I realized what I am saying.??

    What a weird morning.

Your kids seem to show a lot of disrespect for you where are they picking it up ? does your husband make condescending remarks about you in front of the children?

    LOL.

    Kids rule!

It's not easy for them being little in this world. Sometimes they just need to have their day.

What started out weird, turned into a morning you will long cherish.

    well agreed BTGuy,

No Goq, you are reading into this wrong. My husband fortunately has never called me a bad thing, and ... especially NOT turtle!

Incorrigible; semi-retarded; eccentric; perhaps a woman; not Mod 80. Sometimes a bit over the top.

always: That sounds horrible. I hope you don't mind that I laughed thinking of the kids chanting "mommy's eating yogurt azoy." Especially the "azoy."

Goq- this is how 3 year olds talk many times. That's precisely the reason why they have a mom, to teach them what's right!

Always: I know it's easy to say, but don't take it so to heart! Just be grateful it wasn't oil or eggs or other hard to clean stuff!

These kids sound perfectly normal. You did what had to be done by telling them its not Derech Eretz. There isn't more you can do. Although I do hope you made it clear to the three year old that she can't do what she did with the yogurt.

always- it could have been worse. My wife once found our 3 year old with all her expensive make all over the floor and my daughter's face. It was a funny sight, if it hadn't been so expensive.

Sounds like a fairly typical day in our lives.
I have to hold my breath on a regular basis.
I was fine till last week I found a TON of shampoo in my son's desk drawer and a sweater he had cut up with scissors when bored at school. I really lost it then. Keeping your cool is a work in progress. I think you did great.
