Community Board Tells Satmar To ‘Move Their School To Williamsburg Because That’s Where They Are Located’

sbuA yeshiva has been operating illegally in Clinton Hill for two decades — and the community board is saying that the school should move to Williamsburg instead because that’s where the Satmar community is “geographically concentrated.”

Community Board 2 recently shot down the United Talmudical Academy’s bid to continue to operate in a manufacturing zone because it doesn’t have necessary permits — despite the school being there for more than 20 years.

Community board members shot down the permit in part because they say there are plenty of other sites for schools in southern Williamsburg, where most of the students live.

“The Yeshiva is a part of the Satmar community’s school system, a community geographically concentrated locally in present-day southern Williamsburg, not Wallabout or Clinton Hill,” the board’s resolution states.

  1. This is bold-faced naked and open anti-Semitism of telling the Jews to go where the Jews live since this is not your Jew neighborhood, so get out.

  2. Doc u got it wrong? No one is stopping Jews from living there rather they don’t want busy roads, congestion & overextended resources for non residents.

  3. I’m sorry but you left out a lot of critical information.
This is not very balanced journalism.
The website you quote “DNA INFO” also says
    1) That they’ve been operating for 20 years without the necessary permits.
    2) Uses the area behind the building on Washington Avenue as a parking lot and for bus repair, often cleaning engines with power washers that flood the street with chemicals.
    3) They also claim students throw furniture, food and garbage out the windows and into the streets and yards of neighboring properties.
    4) The building next door to the Clinton Hill School said his female tenants are harassed by unsupervised children who yell out the windows. “Many tenants keep their shades drawn during school hours so they won’t get yelled at,” said Peter Noel Duhamel who has owned the building at 66-68 Washington Ave. for nine years. “The students can be aggressive.”

  4. So the hassids belong in Williamsburg because “the Satmar community is “geographically concentrated” there?

Okay so we take them at their liberal logic and say that the shchoyrim should be in Africa because THATS where they are geographically concentrated.

  5. Can you just imagine the outcry if they told “Blacks” to go back to Harlem because that is where they’re concentrated?
There might be problems with legal issues like permits/zoning, but the statement of “staying where they belong” sort of speak, is Racist & Anti Semitic!
