Hearing To Delay Imprisonment of Holyland Defendants (Olmert, Lupoliansky Etc.)

olmThe Supreme Court on Thursday morning 16 Elul is scheduled to hear an appeal from the convicted defendants in the Holyland Real Estate case. The defendants are asking the court to delay implementation of their jail terms pending the outcome of their appeals to the High Court, an appeal that can take a number of years.

Included in the petition are former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Hillel Chaney, former Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupoliansky, Uri Sheetrit, Avigdor Kelner, Danny Dankner, Eli Simchayof, and Meir Rabin. They were scheduled to enter prison on September 1st but this was delayed pending the decision in the appeal on Thursday. A decision in the case is expected to be announced in the days following the hearing.

The prosecution objects and will tell the court the defendants should begin serving their prison terms and they can be released from prison if and when the High Court overturns their convictions. The state is also opposed to granting a request from Simchayof, Lupoliansky and Kelner, who are seeking additional time to pay their fines. The state also objects to granting a delay to Olmert regarding the forfeiture of property.

The whole case vs.Uri Lupoliansky is so shabby and preposteros that the judge privately apologized to him in the fall of 2012 (a rarity is Is.).

    But the game goes on..

Could they let Olmert go down ,but the charedim get off the hook?
