Granddaughter of Victim Describes the Scene at the Rishon L’Tzion Attack

011Sagit Bracha Eizenkott, a granddaughter of Rachel, the 80-year-old woman seriously wounded in the Rishon L’Tzion stabbing attack on Monday, 20 Cheshvan, spoke with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Tuesday morning. Sagit reports she will still have to undergo surgery and she remains in serious condition.

Speaking to radio host Effie Trager, she explained the people in the area at the time of the attack did not stop to help her elderly grandmother even though she was wounded and bleeding. She explained “They ran after the terrorist so he would not injure others. At least pick her up – do something. One person jumped over her and did not even lend a hand to do something to assist her”.

Sagit details Rachel is now stable and has a fractured pelvis and will require surgery, adding she had a previous facture and the situation is not a simple one “but we remain optimistic” she concluded.

  1. I would not know what to do. If I lifted her up, maybe I would cause greater harm. If I stood by and did nothing, the terrorist might get another person.

I understand why they chased the terrorist and let the experts take care of the woman.

  2. I agree. It was shocking and painful together to watch her fall and for the next grueling good half a minute you see pple running over her and jumping over her. At that point the terrorist is not in her way.. the pple running after him and ignoring her were zealous pple who were ready to run into harms way so why not help her while she is in harms way??? One the other hand, even if it feels so long until someone helps her… its all of a few seconds; but it is kind of hard to watch pple jumping over her and not even looking at her.
