Shooting Incident Near the Israeli Embassy in Turkey [UPDATED 1:22PM IL]

1:22PM IL: [VIDEO IN EXTENDED ARTICLE]  The attacker in Ankara was heard shouting “Ala Akbar” before trying to stab a local policeman outside the Israeli Embassy.

1:09PM IL: Israel Channel 2 News reports the incident occurred while a protest was taking place outside the embassy. The protest got close to the embassy’s outer security perimeter comprised of Turkish security personnel. A verbal dispute erupted between protestors and security personnel which was followed by the knife threat. A local officer shot the assailant in a leg while a second officer took another person into custody. [EARLIER REPORTS APPEAR BELOW]

1:05PM IL: Channel 1 News correspondent Amir Bar-Shalom is reporting that the attacker was armed with a knife and tried to stab a security agent at the embassy. He was shot and injured lightly.

1:03PM IL: The Israel Foreign Ministry is reporting all embassy staff is safe. Security personnel shot and wounded an attacker near the embassy.

12:57PM IL: It appears a person fired into the Israeli Embassy and that person was shot and wounded, not killed as believed earlier. It is unknown if other are wounded and if the situation has been declared ‘under control’.

12:46PM IL:  NTV News from Turkey is reporting “one dead in an attack on the Israeli Embassy in Ankara. Two persons tried to get inside”.
