If HaShem spoke to a lowly mortal and related the following message: “it is very important that you are he”
How should someone interpret this message?

He should start to act, live and do the life and role model of the HE that Hashem was talking about.

He should seek out his local mental health professional ASAP, there has not been a Novi in 2000 years

“Lowly mortal” — do you mean a worm, they are mortal and quite low

The mortals I hang out with are all created in the image of Ha-Shem, capable of things that melachim (“angels” as the goyim say) can only dream of, and are only mortal within the context of this world (which we know is a merely corridor to the real world (“this world” being similar to the “fake” world of the “Matrix” but with a much better real world).

    Dear Common,
    Here we go again.

Who was a Navi 2000 years ago? Shmuel Hakatan?

How do you know there is no Navi today?

Prophecy is filtered through the consciousness. Maybe a mental health professional could help.

    Dear Insert,
The first obligation, is to discern any parts that you may be adding into His message. See the beginning of Yirmiyahu, and Zechariah at length. What was seen or sensed at the time of this message?

Hands holding a dove, like darkness maybe some green light, like a cloud of a vision. I haven’t added any words and the syntax used is identical to that perceived/received. “It is veryimportant that you are he” no response on the part of the lowly mortal. Did just finish reading the 5 books, prophets, and and proverbs and all of psalms (english) all in one sitting, as had discovered these texts for the first time. Work of G-d. Can’t compromise that. Mamash.

The seforim say that a dream is 1/70th of prophecy

So part of the dream is destined to come true and also has a message from Hashem to it we just don’t know which part of the dream it is.

What category does HaShem talking to someone fall into? Is it even prophecy if I received no directions to tell anyone anything, and wasnt asked a question or prompted for any reply?

It is safe to assume it wasn’t a nevuah.

    Dear Insert,
Nevuah does not need to have a direction. It can also come from an intermediary. The ‘vessel’ the contains the Nevuah is the Navi’s stages of consciousness. If there are impurities there, (i. e. Too much awareness of others, seeking vanity, and indulgence of the Id.) then it will taint the message. [Pure water in a dirty bucket, is the same as dirty water.] Being that you stated you were in a clear stream of consciousness at the time, I would suggest that you repeat what you were doing, and see if you can hold the message longer. (See Sefer Shmuel 3)

How do we know? Because Chazal says that prophesy ended.

    Was it similar to this?
    Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
    Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
    Still remains
    Within the sound of silence
In restless dreams I walked alone
    Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
    That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

    Dear Reb Elizer,
Read it again. ‘We’ as in the people do not have the services of the Navi etc. It does not say that the Navi no longer receives a vision. See above and compare Eichah 2 9.

    Dear Reb Eliezer,
We as the Jewish People have no Navi to lead us. The Navi still may perceive a message and behold visions. Only, it will not have enough prophetic substance to shine a light for our peoplehood.

    I appreciate all constructive responses.

If Hashem said that to a mortal, I would say He has been listening to an old Beatles song, “I Am the Walrus,” from one of their last albums. It’s a catchy tune.

Being that the skeptics brought very little to the screen, there is not much content here.

Maybe I could take the time to post the relevant sources.

Of course, I would appreciate any specific meditations that posters find helpful when attaining prophecy.

Nevuah was taken away along with the yetzer hara for avoda zarah. Any message of exact words is coming from your own brain. Talk to your LOR and therapist.

    Dear Gamanit,
The exact words of gret neviim such as Shmuel and Yirmiyahu came from their own brains. How else does nevuah come? There is no heavenly area code. Please source your first statement.

To nomesorah: I was trying to be funny, nothing more, based on the similarity of the opening poster’s statement from Hashem, and certain words in that old song. What’s big H, small H? you are too cryptic for me to understand.

    Dear Huju,
Big H =He refers to Hashem.
Little h = he refers to the OP.

I thought you were joking. I wish the skeptics are also.

“Very good! But I would not appreciate any advice on that. I know enough of it.”
What do you know enough of? Spelling mistakes or medications?

“I thought you were joking. I wish the skeptics are also.”
Does this mean you wish they believed in nevuah?

I think people can have a very minor form of nevuah today. Think stories of someone having an intuition which saved his/someone else’s life.
There’s a story of a woman who had an NDE and afterwards was able to somewhat predict the future, can’t remember the exact details

    Dear Opinionated,
My spelling mistakes on this site are extensive. Just another reason not to trust that my post make any sense. I once put a comma in a coma! But this reply was about medicines inducing hallucinations.

    Dear Opinionated,
People can have major forms of nevuah at any time. Though I doubt there are more than a few dozen who would no what to make of it. I read Iyov in a fully alert state and it is still all fuzzy to me.

    Dear Insert,
Are these messages that you received? Or, are they your own conscious ideas? Because proposing such ideas on your own, can severely cripple your ability to comprehend any prophetic visions you experience.
