21:00 IL: There is an air of optimism among the medical team treating Maran HaGaon HaRav Chaim Ovadia Yosef Shlita at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.
It is being reported by Kikar Shabbat that the gadol hador opened his eyes on Tuesday morning, 27 Tishrei 5774, and he recognized family members. This leaves the family and medical team increasingly optimistic regarding the ravs recovery.
Earlier in the week, the ravs daughter, Adina Bar-Shalom told the press that her father opened his eyes and squeezed her hand and she was confident that he recognized her.
Ichud Hatzalah is reporting hospital officials report an improvement, but the rav remains in serious/stable condition.
