Modern debate is based on free speech – all arguments are allowed – and then use Roman “caveat emptor” principle to figure out who is honest and who is not. If you are, on the other hand, raised on Talmudic discussions, you should learn how to make truth the center of your argument, respect your opponent, provide relevant information, investigate your own biases, etc.
