The unusual past of the two judges who acquitted the Jerusalem truck driver.
The driver who ran over the teenager, Yosef Eisenthal, in Jerusalem is Fakhri Khatib, an Arab resident of East Jerusalem. Khatib claimed during his interrogation that he felt his life was in danger when the protesters gathered around the bus, which he claims influenced his actions on the day of the incident.
But in reality, he started driving after four minutes during which no one hit him, and even after most of the protesters had left the area. Those who stood by his side and expressed support for his release were Judges Tamar Bar-Asher and Sharon Lari-Bavli. Both judges effectively allowed his release to house arrest. Bar-Asher also noted that she believes him.
These are two controversial judges.
Larry-Bavli previously released a potential terrorist who expressed support for firing rockets at Israel. The judge, who now believed the driver of the car, claimed at the time that “it is a person’s right to hope that this will be the case,” a move that led to her being reprimanded by the Judicial Admissions Commissioner, who made it clear that such a statement could be interpreted as legitimizing dangerous behavior toward the State of Israel and its citizens.Larry-Bavli, who this time believed the driver of the hit-and-run, who claimed to be afraid of protesters, was particularly lenient towards other protesters, members of the ‘Brothers in Arms’ and left-wing protesters, including in allegations that they attacked police officers.
In Judge Bar-Asher’s case, she compared the text of inflammatory content in the Palestinian Authority to the writings of the Bible, claiming that they too supposedly contain passages that can be interpreted as “difficult content.”

It’s a crazy country that is all confused about what it means to be a Jew and how to figure out what hashem wants from us. Either leave the country to be safe or do your thing and don’t get involved and stay safe. Anyone with any common sense knows the answers but most people just want their fame and fortune right now and aren’t really interested in what’s best for the people. It’s really simple, learning Torah is an acceptable job, and being prepared if you can’t learn full time to get a job is also ok. Each person has to know himself what works for him. You want to join an army where some guy will tell you to go on a mission and die – I think it’s pretty stupid as you only have your life – but if you give your life and everything else over to the secular government then what do you expect? Basics really.
