Just hours after Iran launched ballistic missiles at northern Israel, reports are emerging of widespread explosions across Iran amid what appear to be Israeli retaliatory strikes.
According to initial reports, explosions were heard in and around Tehran, Karaj, Kermanshah, Tabriz, and Isfahan. Early images circulating on Iranian social media reportedly show a large explosion in Isfahan, one of Iran’s key military and nuclear hubs.
The IDF confirmed that the Israeli Air Force has struck military targets belonging to the Iranian regime in western and central Iran.
“The Israeli Air Force struck military targets belonging to the Iranian regime in western and central Iran,” the military said, adding that additional details would be released later.
The strikes come despite comments earlier in the day by President Donald Trump, who said he intended to urge Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu not to retaliate following Iran’s missile attack on Israel.
The rapid Israeli response has sparked speculation that Jerusalem may have already decided on its course of action regardless of diplomatic pressure.
“Did Trump and Netanyahu just fool the world again?” became a widely discussed question online as Israeli warplanes reportedly struck targets deep inside Iran only hours after Trump publicly suggested restraint.
