You know the really beautiful song that Shwekey sang a few years back (I think in Caesaria) in both the Yiddish and English (and I think Hebrew version)

Im pretty sure the original is written by abie rotenberg, its on one of the dveykus CDs.

but the original is a all yiddish and with many different words.

I believe it was Abie Rottenberg from Dveykus. He was a high-School Rebbie of mine.

In A’Vinkeleh from Dveykus 2 was composed by Shweky’s Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Davidowitz the Rosh Yeshiva in Rochester. I think the lyrics of the original song and Shweky’s version are both by Abie Rotenberg

Can someone post the original lyrics? My yiddish isn’t great, and there are a few words I was never able to make out.

Actually the 6th line should be:

    Ehr shteit und er beit

    Tzu zein Tatte in Himmel

“mir haben shoin genug dorch gemacht”

We have already gone through enough.

WIY, I think so. It seems like an old song from the times of forced conscription.
