What are other PROVEN body-language signs which indicate the speaker MAY be lying?

They offer shorter responses, make more speech errors – more um’s, er’s ah’s…blink more, fidget more. They change their voices, are overly defensive, try changing the subject by using humor or sarcasm.

What definite sign to know the person is lying (IF their name is Clinton) is that their lips are moving.

Why don’t you watch that show “Lie to me”? He is supposedly an expert in telling when people are lying. Maybe you can pick up a few tips.

AOM -I’m sorry that’s a lawyer joke. How do you know when a lawyer is lying? When his lips are moving!

Touching the mouth or putting the fingers close to the mouth are supposed to be signs if lying.

I remember reading something somewhere about how if someone looks either to the right or left (don’t remember which side) it means they are lying because it indicates they are accessing their imagination instead of memory. Or something.

What are the signs of someone being vague?

How do you know when someone is NOT lying but is talking about something he/she knows nothing about and is wrong, but just likes to yack away? When he/she is in the Coffee Room. (Does not apply to me.)

    That joke is so prejudiced.

    Some lawyers are women.

There are no “proven” signs that a person is lying. In fact, the most effective liars of all are sociopaths (also called “psychopaths” or “anti-social personality”).

Sociopaths do not react to lying the way normal people do – in fact they have neurological abnormalities that cause their brains to react differently to the stress of lying. They also do not feel empathy with other people (although they can do a wonderful job of acting as if they do.)

Sociopaths are one reason that lie detector evidence is no longer accepted in court. Sociopaths lie like rugs and show no reaction on the machine, while a normally nervous person can show up as “guilty.”

Don’t even assume that you can tell if a person is lying. You might end up buying the Brooklyn Bridge or contributing to another Madoff. When in doubt – back out. Whether it’s a shidduch or a business deal, check it out carefully.

Being the victim of cruel lies is so maddening.

People tell me to “fight fire with fire” ,but I will NEVER,EVER stoop so low.

If you are reading this, and you have publicly slandered someone in your life,LISTEN to that little whisper in your head telling you to retract your false words.

In the next world, the timer isn’t ticking anymore.

If their pupils dilate (if they grow bigger) then its a sign they’re lying.

Also if their a righty and look to the right (I think) they’re making it up. But check that out yourself. Ask yourself a question where you need to remember something (like what did you have for dinner last night or whatever) and check which side you look up too. The other side is the imagination side
