Mods: I looked for the old kiruv thread and couldn’t locate it, so I started this. If you wish to merge it with the old thread, please do.
I receive a daily email about halach and a weekly one about the parsha. The following is this week’s parsha commentary and its relevance to kiruv. Ithink it is excellent and hope you enjoy.

Every knowledgeable Jew can and must get involved in outreach. We all have Torah knowledge and values to share. Rather than cloister ourselves in an ark like Noah, we must follow the example of Abraham and work to spread Torah. Needless to say, we must put in the time to develop ourselves. But this is not where it ends. The more we develop ourselves, the more we are able and obliged to work to develop others, doing our share and fulfilling our obligation as the descendants of Abraham Abinu to make the world a better and more Godly place.

MG, I finally had a chance to sit down and read it. Very interesting and a good lesson! I just learned Noach over shabbos, so it was nice to read this. Thanks so much for sharing.

Speaking of parshas Noach, I was learning the parsha this past Friday night with my mom, and we came up with the following question: We know that Noach sent out a raven and then a dove to see if the land was dry after the flood. But wouldn’t it have been a higher level of faith if Noach had simply waited for G-d to send him a sign that the land was dry, instead of trying to “figure it out” himself? After all, it is stated that Yosef HaTzadik was punished for asking the Butler of Paroah to mention him to Paroah instead of waiting for G-d to do it. So wouldn’t this be the same?
MP -When it comes to Avodas Hashem e/o is required to make Histadlus and not wait for Hashem directly. So Noach did right. That was Yosef’s mistake -he thought he was doing his Histadlus, but actually he went too far. Going as far as Yosef went, acc. to the Madreiga he was on, was a lack of Emunah & Bitachon.
