Whether or not the wife works is a delicate decision that has to be decided independently by each couple. There is no one-size-fits all solution. I think most would agree, however, that a woman shouldn’t decide to stay home for the sole reason of child care on days off from school. That’s a pretty minor consideration in the grand scheme of things, and besides, I would hope that her job earns more money annually than the total babysitting cost for the handful of days in question.
