You have no call to be upset over the fact that you did not learn this (or if you did, but forgot). If you had asked, and someone had responded by jeering at you, then you’d have call to be upset.
How many times do we have discussions about some halacha or the other, and someone doesn’t know what’s going on? Do they get angry? No, they ask what is going on.
