That was a reference to Churban Bayis Sheni. We see Yidden didn’t speak Loshon Hakodesh in Ezra’s time already — which places it even before Bayis Sheni.
I provided the mekor for the Chasam Sofer, so look it up. But it was in the times of the Beis Hamikdash already that Yidden used a modified version of the non-Jewish languages for everyday talk.
