It was one thing when all jews spoke Yiddish, but today most non-chassidic jews dont speak it.
Not everyone holds by the Satmar Rebbe or Rav Aharon Kotler. The Syrian Gadol Rav (Sorry his name skips my mind) will only speak Hebrew even though he does speak English. Yiddish is not the language of the Sephardim.
