Ames, about your original recipe – 1 c. Crisco = 1 stick = half a can.
1 c will be 16 Tbsp, which is usually two sticks of margarine but the shortening sticks do seem larger. I do have to ask how big your can is. Most cans I see are 48 oz. (3 lb) which I think is SIX cups.
So if anyone makes the recipe and wonders if they have the right size can, stick, etc. just be sure that you have 1 full cup, or 16 tablespoons.
