eclipse- I am actually taking a contact lens course right now in optometry school and the reason it is dangerous is because as it is with a lens on the eye you are getting less oxygen to your cornea, when you are sleeping and your lids are closed you are getting even less. this can lead to all sorts of problems. that being said, there are some contact lenses that are FDA approved for sleeping with although it is up to your eye doctor to decide whether you are a good candidate for that. Finally, in general the daily disposables and silicon hydrogels (a type of lens material) are the most expensive.
