Ubiqutin, your “major problem” isn’t a problem at all. I’ve heard this tayna before, and it makes no sense to me. If the math works (and again, I only know that there are experts who say it does, but don’t have a personal opinion on it), that question is simply a “kashya oif a maysah”. Perhaps we do have the “right” version, but either way, don’t you think Hashem knew which version we would have?
