Oomis: I don’t believe the issue is your preference; it’s the idea of not getting to familiar, and by addressing someone formally by Mr or Mrs, depending on the opposite sex, is a way of keeping distance. Now, if you prefer to be called by your first name, even by a member of the opposite sex, maybe you at least subconsciously are seeking a closeness with that person.
